The hobbit game 2003 riddles in the dark

I painted my book grey and just added a simple "Riddles in the Dark" with metallic gold paint. Cover the book with a clear coat after the paint has dried. Print out or write out your riddles. I have a free PDF you can download here which includes the riddles from The Hobbit here, or you can write your own. Cut the riddles into strips or notecards, fold them up, and place inside the book box! The person with the birthday closest to September 22nd goes first! The first player takes a riddle from the box and reads it aloud.

The first person to answer correctly gets to keep the riddle and gets the box. Optional: if someone answers a riddle incorrectly, they are eaten by Gollum. Also Optional: The winner gets a Gold Ring!

And lastly, the third sister is Wicked red , she's the hardest to kill. Bilbo must repeatedly acquire freeze rocks, throw a few at Wicked to stop her in her tracks, then jump-attack her with his sword until he defeats her. The game largely follows the plot of The Hobbit book , but makes several common "video game adaptations", such as added monsters, expanded "chapters" levels , boss fights, and so on.

Some of the more significant changes, however, include the absence of Beorn the shape-shifter until "The Clouds Burst" or, The Battle of the Five Armies. The animated movie from also omits Beorn, and the game might be based on this film despite being released many years apart. In " Riddles In The Dark ", the player needs to fix various pieces of lift machinery to open a gate and free a dwarven prisoner. Also, instead of in among the trees, the fight with the spiders occurs in a big "spider hall" with cliffs that the bigger spiders can't climb.

In the game, Bilbo names the sword, Sting, after he found it in the troll cave, but in the book, he names it after he fought the spiders. The game also portrays Bard as already the captain of the town-guard. In the book he doesn't take command of the defense of Lake-town until the dragon comes. He also doesn't serve the Master of Lake-town until he escapes ashore after the destruction of Lake-town, but it would seem that the makers of the game wanted to make someone familiar give Bilbo important quests.

Another great difference between the game and the book is the inclusion of a new character: a wood-elf named Lianna, whom Bilbo helps to heal when injured in the troll caverns. Because he lives alone, Gollum is in the habit of speaking to himself in a hissing baby-talk, calling himself "my precious. Gollum decides to get the better of Bilbo by using his "birthday present", the Ring.

When he wears it, he is invisible and can more easily snag his prey. He goes to the hiding place where he keeps the Ring, but it's missing he wore the ring a few hours before to catch a goblin, and it slipped off in a tunnel on his way back. Gollum correctly surmises that Bilbo has it and confronts him, asking what is in his pocket. Bilbo, who does not understand the power of the Ring, slips it on his finger as Gollum runs to attack him.

Bilbo becomes invisible, and Gollum cannot find him to attack. Gollum is afraid that without the invisibility of the ring, he will be captured by the Goblins, so he panics and runs to escape the cave. Bilbo, who is still invisible, follows him, thereby discovering the way out. Gollum, who can smell Bilbo, blocks his way. Bilbo thinks of killing Gollum, but decides it would not be fair, since Gollum is defenseless. He escapes by leaping over Gollum's head and through the passageway, but he runs into the Goblins.

As they rush at him, he slips the ring on and escapes to the outside where it is light and the Goblins cannot follow. The Lord of the Rings brought about changes to the context of the original story, and led to substantial changes to the character of Gollum. In the first edition of The Hobbit , Gollum bets his Ring on the riddle game and if Bilbo wins, the Ring will be presented as a present.

After losing, Gollum seeks for the Ring, but cannot find it. He begs for Bilbo's pardon and shows him the way out. Tolkien made Gollum more aggressive in the second edition to reflect on the concept of the Ring's corrupting abilities.
